10 Must have Extensions for FireFox!By Terminator1138
As webdevelopers we find it cumbersome to have the need for an external program to do little things. Wouldn't it be nice to have some of these tools integrated right within your favorite browser, of which being FireFox of course
? Well DtW has scoured Mozilla site to find the 10 must useful extension to have with the FireFox browser. I'm sorry to say IE just does not support extensions so just download Firefox for starters.
(Update: There is a webdeveloper toolbar available to download from MS, however extensions from MS are really non-existent due to the fact MS is not opensource so the only extensions one can do is make a button and not change any aspect of the browser or fucntion. If you find any let us know
)
Top Ten (10)...why not eleven you ask, I say, why not nine? Ten just sounds better. There are more that some might find the best, but that can be discussed in the forums by following the link at the end of this article.
1. Web Developer Extension from Chris Pederick. This handy little tool lets you validate your css, html and more. Its also has so many other tools inside you just have to download it and mess around. So many under one extension that this just gets better and better.
2. HTML Validator based off Tidy lets you look at source code of a web page in a new way that allows you to correct and see common mistakes.
3. Web Color names or ColorZilla is worth mentioning for added value. Personally I liked Web Color more, but ColorZilla can be added to the toolbar for quick and dirty access. Webcolor allows you to see common webcolors easily and they html value.
4. Aardvark sounds weird, but it highlights elements of design right within your browser of Firefox. Very cool feature to have and see how someone layed out your site or someone elses.
5. View Rendered Source and View formated source can be useful. You can follow link to see a better picture of this one.
6. Measure It does just what it says. You can toogle on a button on your toolbar to start Measure It. Once you are done, toogle if off. Perhaps you just want to know how big an image is or maybe you need it occassionally, however you might wish you had it for some project.
7. IE View and Opera View can be added together. Basically lets you view the page in both IE and Opera. No need to switch back and forth with different browsers to see how the page is rendered.
8. EditCSS ...modify a stylesheet on sidebar of Firefox.
9. BBcode along with BBcode xtra is great for those posting and CMS entries where you want to add forum code or xhtml/html syntax to a page. Accessible via right click menu system you can find these addons quite addicting from time to time. Ya these two are not a must have, but if you spend a lot of time on CMS entries or blogs etc, you might just find you cannot live without them.
10. FireFTP
Honorable mentions that need due respect for being an extension for Firefox (many of these are not just for webdevelopers:
HotScripts toolbar
Lorem Ipsum Generator
Gmail Notifier
PDF Download
Whois
SEOpen
GoogleToolbar
GreaseMonkey (latest version, old version is security risk)
TAW3 with a click
SppofStick
HostIP location with GeoLocation Plugin
HTML Validator (based off CSE HTML Validator)
QuickNote
Of course many more are useful however I geared these more to webdevelopers etc.

I've noticed many hits from firefox myths site and must say I have found many inaccuracies with that site. Funny that they listed us and this article.
Also, check out Mozilla knowledge base to see which ones have memory leaks etc. There is also a starter list in the forum to help.
@DanThMan
They're all great, but the one I use the most is Linky!
